On October 29, the 2024 Green Methanol Energy Industry Development Forum took place in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia. Chen Qi, secretary of the Party Committee and chairman of WINDEY, was invited to attend the forum, at which he delivered a speech on "Green Methanol Low-carbon Energy Industry".
Chen Qi noted that amid the backdrop of the world's active response to climate change and the accelerated implementation of China's "Dual Carbon" targets, green methanol led to derivative application of the green electricity, and it is being viewed as a low-carbon clean energy with huge potential.
Chen Qi elaborated on WINDEY's profound thinking and technical precipitation in the field of new energy consumption, and further analyzed the development prospect of green methanol based on the industry’s supply and demand trend. He said that in recent years, WINDEY has kept a close eye on the derivative scenarios of the green electricity industry with methanol as the carrier, gradually built a business layout centering on three major sectors (namely, biomass methanol, E-methanol, and electricity-produced green ammonia), and put it into practice. For example, WINDEY adopted the "Liquid Sunshine to Methanol" process to produce electronic methanol with higher cost performance to better meet the needs of emerging application scenarios such as methanol heavy truck. It follows the "Biomass to Methanol" approach to produce green-labeled bio-methanol that meets the EU’s ISCC EU standard and adapts to transnational shipping companies’ demands for alternative green fuels...WINDEY goes all out to build a "bridgehead" for its hydrogen-ammonia-methanol business and has a profound impact on traditional industries and traditional production modes.
At present, multiple global shipping companies including MAERSK, COSCO Shipping, and CMA CGM have announced that they will use green methanol as an alternative fuel. So far, there have been 269 methanol-fueled ships confirmed globally. It is expected that a total of 460 methanol dual-fuel ships will be delivered globally by 2030, so that the green methanol’s market size will reach 30.4 million tons per year, according to Chen Qi. Especially with technological progress and massive production, green methanol is expected to become an important pillar in the energy field in the future, and the trillion-level market space will be fully released. From the perspective of the survey of WINDEY and shipping companies, methanol fuel, especially green methanol fuel, has broad market prospects.
